Today i would like to start a new trend on GL blog for this summer. We are going to establish three categories as our "Summer Pick of The Week".
First, it will be a BOOK of the week, a book that i read and i really liked and i suggest you if you like reading. It will be probably more Russian literature, but i will try to be diverse.
Second, it will be a VIDEO of the week. We are going to share with you a video that caught our attention and impressed us the most this week.
Third, and of course, it will be a BAND of the week. We learn about new and existing bands all the time and will feature the bands that we like and hope you might like as well.
Today i would like to start with the first "Pick of the Week - A Book" we are presenting to you "Dark Alleys" by a Russian author Ivan Bunin.
"Dark Avenues" (or Dark Alleys, or Temnie Allei in Russian) is a collection of short stories by a Noble Prize winning Russian author Ivan Bunin written in 1937-1944, mostly in France. The first 11 novels were published in New York USA in 1943. The book's full version ( 27 stories added to first 11) came out in 1946 in Paris. This Bunin's masterpiece is "devoted entirely to the concept of love". This stories are romantic, vivid, sometimes sad, but absolutely marvelous! A perfect reading for this holiday weekend (Memorial Day weekend here in USA), especially while sitting on the beach, accompanied by the sounds of waves.

The place is amazing! This is the stage where NIRVANA played!!! (there is even a DVD with their live performance) along with so many other great bands including Tool, Green Day, Incubus and etc.!!!
The walls are covered with different posters and it just sends shiver down your spine!!
Here is a video of Nirvana playing at DOBBS!!!!! (wooooowwww! gotta pinch myself!! Kurt WAS PLAYING on the same stage... )
It is an honor for us to play there too!!!!!
