KOTEEK - Our DIY Speaker Cabinet!!

Hello!

Hope this moody Monday is treating you nice!!!

Today we are going to tell you a story how Ania made a new design for our speaker cabinet - Koteek that is Russian means "Sea Kitten" - that's how seals are called :)))

So first we had just a plain white canvas for cabinet's "face" - and then we decorated it with.... a BOW!!!

It was like this for some time until we made our final decision on how we are going to decorate it.
It started with a sketch:

Then we decided on design and Ania proceeded with applying her baby seal to the canvas. And then making and measuring letter stencils.

Then - a few magic moves - and TA-DAAA!!!

It looks very neat on stage and is so so pretty!!! Danny's vintage guitar compliments the looks...
We have to thank our friend Steve for making the cabinet for us!!! He is very talented craftsman! (That also build an amazing walk-in closet for Ania with awesome wall-to-wall show shelves!!) Check out his page on Facebook "Nailed It"

Wishing you all fun tonight!!!!

Sincerely, Glen Landing

We love FUN.

PRIVET!

Glen Landing is spending this wonderful sunny days with the beats of a new tune we love by FUN. "We Are Young" What a cool song, that i am sure is crossing the continents and winning hearts of many listeners out there.

Just yesterday we were reading in Rolling Stone magazine about the band and the guys.

Well, it is literally that rare and glorious second chance that happens. It is the second band that the singer Nate Ruess formed in NYC - and here we are! Listening to them!

After attending Panic! at the disco concert Nate had too many vodka martinis and was feeling now good that night. In a few day a melody line got stuck in his head. It was "Tonight we are young..."

I really enjoy the song and i had such feeling that i have known it forever... i wonder why.
Anyway, here is a video for you there!

We are getting ready to our show this Wednesday at North Star Bar in Philadelphia. We are going to play one or may be two new songs. Also we are bringing tones of cool merch! Stay tuned!!

Wishing everyone a lovely Saturday!

And i am off to jamming !!!

How We Listened To "Y-Not Philly With Glen Landing"

Hello !
We were so happy to hear ourselves on the radio!
We were a little shy because we were not sure how performing live would turn out.

We asked Josh Landow, our host, to play one of our favorite bands Surfer Blood, their new single  "Miranda". But the band being from West Palm Beach could not be considered 'local" for our local play list. Sigh... SO what a lovely surprise was to hear 'Miranda" right before our hour!!! Thanks, Josh! Also we learned that Surfer Blood was at Y-Not Radio studio, just like us, a year ago for interview and live performance! That was really cool to know!

Well, it's hard for everybody to hear themselves talking, and we are no exception. It does feel little weird, and i was hiding under the pillow when i first heard me speaking :)))) Gotta get used to it, cause this interview is a great beginning for many more to come!

We were definitely pleased how everything turned out. We named our new song, now it's "Heart's Desire" (although i really was feeling the name 'Vibe") and i really liked it sounding live! Very cool! Seems like we are going to play it at our upcoming show at North Star Bar this Wednesday, April 25th! We thought Scott, our new drummer, sounded very cool and passionate. I think it was my favorite moment - listening to what he was saying.

It was great to hear some local bands as well! Sorry, Bong Hits for Jesus, I named your song wrong :/ it is TUESDAYS, not FRIDAYS!!! hope i will make up to you guys this Friday 4-20-2012 at your single 'Tuesdays", dah, release party!!! Everybody, come on up to hand out at the Connie's Rick Rac
with us and Bong Hits For Jesus!!!

And for anybody who wants to hear our song BubbleGum it's here!!
Wishing everybody sweet dreamz,
Ania and Glen Landing

Y-NOT Radio Interview

On Sunday Glen Landing have been at the radio station for the first time!

We were so excited to be there. Josh T Landow was our lovely host. We rolled in with some gear and a bag of Dubble Bubble! Yeah, i was smelling it for inspiration (isn't it the best smell ever?!) and we all enjoyed chewing it !

First we were setting up our gear. We brought pianos, guitars, and a little drum set.  Wurlitzer was not behaving and was making a buzz, so loud, as never before! Talking about vintage gear, he-he :) After switching the cords the buzz went away! Yeah-ja!! So we played our songs, three of them. We started with the new one (we love playing it!) And ultimately we came up with the name for it! It is official, the name for the new jam is "Heart Desire". Then we played BubbleGum and Holiday.

After that we set down to talk. It was so much fun!! We were talking a little bit about the band, how we met, how we formed. And then we were talking about a play list, some artists from Philadelphia.

Whad up Y-NOT Radio people!

Our awesome drummer Scott and Dubble Bubble
So an hour long program will air this Wednesday on Y-Not Radio!

Wishing you lovely day!!!!

About Inspiration

Hello!

I am going to have a midnight talk to you about... Inspiration!

I remember talking to our former bass player Brenda some time ago about what bands she likes to listen to. She has a great taste in music and i like finding new cool music through her. Well, she mentioned MGMT. i did hear a lot about them, but never checked them out for real. It was time. Googleing "mgmt". And a web site comes up and it's called " who us mgmt?" oh! Perfect! Clicking on it and it is their official web site and it takes me right to their video " congratulations" talking about never being the same after watching it. Yes, half way through i was a FAN. Till now the are my everyday inspiration. Not only their music, but their lifestyle, their personalities, story, style. I love MGMT and some exciting news! They are performing in August at Musikfest in PA!! Wow! With their schedule being so scarce, and including such places as Brazil and Mexico - Bethlehem, PA sounds like i am friends with Luck :)

Another interesting and inspiring person for me, that i have discovered yesterday - Pharrell Williams. Wow, just randomly watch a youtube video of him talking at ASCAP conference in LA and - i found his ideas and thoughts are so useful and current for me! He was talking about questions that i was seeking answers to !! Now thanks to him i feel so much inspired! Refreshed. Strong.

Recently some memories of my early middle school days arose. I remember taking a part in a play and i had to tell a story about Demosthenes, an orator in ancient Athens. His story gives me strength every time i think about him. He was a very sick and shy boy with bad diction and quiet voice. But he had a dream of becoming an orator. And - through his believing in his dream and hard work every day ( like standing in front of furious ocean trying to talk louder than stormy waves)he became one of the iconic orators.

Also i am truly inspired by my bandmates. Dan, a true musician and artist. A few years ago we were discussing a question written on my shirt. It said "Live for..." what do you think? And Dan said: for music. Simple and breathtaking. Scott, our drummer, with his true enthusiasm and happiness for simple important things. Also a genuine person. And of course a true talented musician.

And what are you inspired by? Share it with us :)

 Sincerely yours, Ania

Interview At The Puck Live

It was a great show at David Ivory Presents at the Puck Live last Friday!

Also we were interviewed! It was so much fun!!

Glen Landing: can't stop smiling!

There were guys with a crazy camera,  a microphone, a light... It was looking so professional!
We were interviewed by David Ivory. He was asking us questions about glen landing and of course BubbleGum!!!

I was trying to explain how i got my first taste of bubblegum in early 1990s in Minsk, Belarus. In fact bubblegum was invented in  1928 in Philadelphia!! and the first one was names Dubble Bubble. This is my favorite gum! Classic flavor, pink color! Also bubbegum has the best smell in the world! To me it smells like American dream! A-uu!

We were hanging out in a back room. It is very cool, has band stickers on (of course GL stickers are there too) We found so many band names that we know on the walls.

You will be able to watch the video on demand at Comcast. We will let you know when it will be available!

We got  a new show added to our schedule! It will be on June 2nd at Gloucester Township day! It will be so cool!

Hope you guys are enjoying sunny days!!!

Everything the best!

Recap on the Weekend

So this was a long weekend for us in GL, we started in Cape May on Friday afternoon for the beginning of the Cape May singer/songwriters conference at Congress Hall.  After going to school all day long with mentoring sessions with some music pros and attending different seminars, we got on the road from Cape May to Doylestown for our show.

Ania in front of Congress Hall in Cape May. FUR SHOES are in :0

We rocked out Puck Live! In Doylestown for the “David Ivory Presents” show with the Easy Does It,  Dakota and Will , Bong Hits for Jesus , and JRad .  It was an awesome night of great bands and good people.

So we then went back down to Cape May for the second day of the singer/songwriter conference doing the same as we did the day before except Saturday night we rocked Carneys in Cape May.  It was an awesome weekend of networking and playing.  Meeting a bunch of music pros and new fans at our shows.

At the conference on Friday, the first mentoring session was with Mr. Loren Weisman.
We have met with Loren before @MMC in Feb.  Since then we have taken a lot of what Loren has told us to heart.   He is a true pro at all this stuff.  While reading his book I would say, “Wow I love this guy cause he is so smart!”  Then I would get to the next part and say, “Man, I hate this guy cause he is so smart!” (meaning I’m not doing something right)  If you want to know a little more about this u should read his book too.  It has everything in it you would want to know about the music industry.  Check Loren out at http://www.lorenweisman.com/
def check out his book too even if your not a musician but just curious

We also met with Paula Savastano and Kurt Schmel from SSA music.  They do music licensing, publishing, copyright, law, and prob everything else. All words from Paula are delivered with a sincere smile and to the point.  She is the type that covers all of the bases when doing business.  I think she was one of the smartest people in this industry that we have met so far.  If there is money to be made or already has been made, Paula is one that will make sure that you are getting it.  Juggling all of these different laws and unwritten laws makes for a very confusing path to getting paid as a musician.  Understanding the changing music industry is very important to all of us out there making a living entertaining so having someone like Paula on your side would be invaluable in increasing the productivity of your brand.  You can find Paula at http://www.savsch.com/

Coming down from Boston, wearing many hats, Jordan Tishler of Digital Bear Entertainment was very informative in his workshop and mentoring session.  Jordan is producer/mix engineer/artist consultant/music licensing, ya know just about everything.  Jordan has done all of the above in the past but is moving more towards artist management and consulting.  Consulting is a way of getting managerial advices without a commitment on either side.  Again like Paula and Loren, Jordan is a very smart man with many good tips and views that could help any musician’s career get to the next level.  Check him out at http://www.digitalbear.com/index.html
Dan: lots to think about :)))

When attending music conferences be prepared to be told things that are not intended to hurt your feelings or make u think you don’t know anything, but information that is free of charge to help you better your career.  Don’t be a wall flower, talk to everyone in the room and let them know what you are doing.  Be exciting and people will be excited.  As all conferences that GL has attended we learned a bunch and met a lot of informative music pros and look forward to using the information
