"Russian Party" Explained By Dan. Part 3

I may call these "Russian parties," but  the main common thread amongst all these students is that they can speak the Russian language.  They may be from Mongolia, Mondolvia, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and many others.  Most of these countries were part of the Soviet Union until the 90's which meant the common language was Russian.  Even though they all have their own languages, they all can speak Russian.  Except me, I know like 5 words.

Being that some of these college students are from major cities and others from village like towns, the access to such parties is not a staple back home for all.  "Turn that music up man!!!!" says one party animal to another.  The bass is pumping and peeps are dancing.  The stereos are always big and pumping and they don't skimp out on the light show either.  With a box full of DJ lighting and smoke machines to boot, you'd think you were at a club by the ambiance of the room.  Instead of going out to the club, they just make the house into a club.

Glen Landing has been lucky enough to become the house band of these, "Russian Parties."  Providing live music for these house gatherings that don't usually start until the stroke of midnight.
Since Ania is from Belarus, she is GL's connect to all this.  If I didn't know Ania, then I'd probably never even know that this underground scene existed.  Every party that we have played is a little different.  Some are more of a listening party and sing-alongs, then others have been all-out bangers going until the sun's up.  The crowds of college students flocking to the scene, looking to rage and have a good time, all enjoy a live band.  Glen Landing comes and brings the noise to help add to the experiences that these students take home with them.  It is special for us to share this with them and equally special for them to experience it with us.

Music is the one common thread that all people in this world can relate to.  It is our link to one another. Without understanding one word spoken of another, you can still find  a relation in song.  I have found that their is many more casual musicians at these parties than at an "American" party.  Before and after Glen Landing rocks these parties, you could call it an open jam.  You'd be pleasantly surprised to see that probably half these party goers can play an instrument, so they rock out too!!!  I'm bringing the accordion next week to see who is truly legit!!!

My experiences have taught me that if u want to sing-along, then you should.  It's a, "everybody sings" community of friends.  From all walks of life and different nations, they sing loud and in with harmony together.  I don't understand what they are singing but, I've been told they are traditional folk or pop songs.  Sing loud while holding your brother or sister next to you, feeling the vibes and spreading the love and never the hate.  I hope i have clearly explained of what a "Russian Party" is, so I thank my foreign brothers for sharing in these great times with me and Glen Landing.  Till the next one...... this SATURDAY!!!!

"Russian Party" Explained by Dan. Part 2

With heavy accent, "Dude, we go to Russian Party tonight!!"  I have heard this phrase many times in my years of chillin at the southern jersey beach town of Wildwood.

Yanna, Treece, Yuraslava, Ania

To explain how these Russian parties happen it starts with college students from all over Europe coming to America to work for the summer. They work many, many hours and party hard thru the night.  Most kids live in hostel type housing in wildwood so the parties always happen at Russian houses.  In the "Russian Houses" their are veterans of the work and travel program that help facilitate these parties to happen.  Here is the General.  Thats just how he smiles.  LOL!!!  Good friend of mine.

(singing with accent) "HAppy Birthday!!!"

Their doesn't need to be an occasion for these parties to get nuts.  Just vodka and some beer !  This past Tuesday it was a birthday party!!  That's the birthday girl right dere and the dude on the left is Andre "King of Wildwood"  He throws many killer parties and his dance moves are hot.  Just ask Chuck Treece, Andre was telling Treece about how the girls just come to him when he dances at the club in Miami.  Oh yea, Russians have this thing with Miami.  They all have to go Miami at some point.

TO BE CONTINUED.... and don't forget to share this on your pages!!!!  Click below to get our single "BubbleGum"  for free download

House Party Addiction! Part 1

Hello friends!

Ania  is here, reporting live from fresh beautiful and charming beach of North Wildwood, NJ

Recently we found ourselves having such awesome time while playing at Wild Russian Summer Parties 2012! Yesterday was the second show we played and it was so cool!!! Both parties were Birthday celebrations for two Russian girls both named Zenia! (is there any other Zenia's that are going to have birthdays soon?! i wonder...)

We love the energy, the vibes, the different languages, all this interesting new people we meet! Mostly Russian students that are spending their summer 2012 here in USA, in Wild Wildwood!!!

There were lots of people, everybody having fun, dancing, singing!

WE LOVE YOU, OUR NEW FRIENDS!!!!
(specail thanks to Zenia Soshkina for pictures!)

Meet our new friends! This is Julia, Zenia, another Zenia (it was her birthday party), and Slava!

Slava and Zenia are our neighbors, they are my favorite girls here !
We love to hang out and play at these parties!

We have played 6 songs, including Holiday acoustic, a new version of Criminals, Disco featuring me on guitar and singing (oh yeah these disco days are HOT), and of course BubbleGum.

The show was very intimate and just enough loud to hear everything clear.

And of course our favorite part was all our new friends dancing (like the speakers were about to fall down from the SHAKE of the room!!!!!) and a lovely light machine that was setting up the mood of a Russian- American spaceship racing to the stars!!

A special and pleasant surprise was to have legendary Chuck Treece at the party too! he is freshly back from his European tour with a band Lemonheads! Lots of cool stories from him!

YEAH, and baby seals were there too!!

GEAR! Orange and Space Echo are hanging out!

Stay tuned for the second part of the story - an inside view of an American of a Russian party!

Dan will explain how he feels about it and I am sure it will very interesting!

All the best, Ania
